Lost and Found
Lost and Found is a quality-of-life automation feature added around Go-Go Town! version 1.0 and refined in patch 1.0.25831. When maintenance workers patrol assigned districts, they pick up items left outside designated storage or zone boundaries and deposit them into a central Lost and Found bin instead of leaving clutter on hunting routes or commercial streets. The system complements Garbird trash cleanup and full maintenance building upkeep — it specifically targets dropped tools, crafted goods, and harvest overflow that block mayor movement or Treasure Hunting paths.
How recovery works
Unlock maintenance staff through mid-tier EGO Tech (see automation/maintenance). Assign workers to districts with high foot traffic: food courts, export docks, cave entrances, and fossil hunting loops.
Items left on the ground outside valid depot or zone tiles get flagged during patrol. Workers route them to Lost and Found rather than deleting — retrieve from the maintenance UI or Town Hall-adjacent panel depending on patch layout.
Patch 1.0.25831 context
The 1.0.25831 notes explicitly call out maintenance collecting stray items. This landed alongside Export removal and coin-based decoration flows, when mayors spent more time carrying hunting duplicates and shop stock manually.
If hunting sessions flood your valley with nets, geodes, or fossils, Lost and Found prevents those stacks from blocking courier paths until you sell to Arizona Smythe III at the Town Hall.
Garbirds vs Lost and Found
Garbirds eat litter trash for cleanliness stars — they do not store recoverable goods. Maintenance workers handle both building wear and Lost and Found deposits. Use Garbirds for passive trash; assign maintenance when you craft, hunt, or export heavily.
- Garbirds: litter only, cleanliness rank
- Maintenance: buildings + Lost and Found goods
- Manual mayor pickup: still works but does not scale
District assignment tips
One maintenance worker per dense commercial block beats one worker for the entire map. Split desert spokes and cave hubs separately after land unlocks — couriers and hunters share the same roads.
Co-op teams can designate a Vice-Mayor to empty Lost and Found after rank pushes while the host places new zones.
