Online Co-op Setup

PC online co-op supports up to four mayors in one town via Steam multiplayer. The host loads their save, opens co-op from the menu, and invites friends through the Steam overlay. Guests join as Vice-Mayors with latency dependent on host hardware and network. This page covers invite flow, common disconnect causes, and pre-session permission setup for stable 1.0 sessions.

Hosting steps

Launch Go-Go Town! on Steam. Load campaign save (not Creative unless supported). Open pause menu → Co-op → Enable or Host Session.

Open Steam overlay (Shift+Tab default) → Invite friends who own the game. Wait for all players to spawn in host town before starting major build projects.

Set co-op/permissions before invites go out to prevent EGO griefing.

Joining as guest

Accept Steam invite or join via friends list "Join Game". Download sync applies if host save is large — first join takes longest.

Guest progress saves only on host world — you are visiting the Mayor's town.

Network troubleshooting

NAT type strict on campus or hotel Wi-Fi may block invites — try mobile hotspot or VPN per Steam guidance.

Host should use wired Ethernet for four-player sessions with heavy courier activity.

If desync occurs after Major Update 6, verify all players on same game version — see updates hub.

Mixed local + online

PC may allow local guest plus online friends depending on patch — test with two local before four-player event night.
